Memory Foam Lumbar Support For Your Back

Ahhh i love memory foam. Ever since we got our memory foam mattress i have been a fan of memory foam. The only thing is you cant take your mattress with you everywhere! Then i found a memory foam lumbar support, this was great as i could take it everywhere and it makes any seating more comfortable. As i often have to travel around at work and sitting in all different chairs this helps me to remain comfortable. I have not yet found a car which is designed to be good for your back position but this helps to convert seats into something better for your back. As i have degenerative disc disease and 2 lumbar prolapsed discs i know i need to care properly for my back. However, I even find people who have never had back pain trying out my memory foam cushion and liking it :} Ideal for    portable back support at work and when travelling. Makes any seating more comfortable for your back. One of these goes everywhere with me. Its even "borrowed" by hubby! Lose The...

Heat Wraps for Back Pain Relief.

I just thought it might be useful to you for me to highlight a few things which helped me along the road of recovering from back pain and sciatica.  These products helped me to get some relief while i was working on my issues and made the days more bearable...  Heat Wraps are Fantastic, portable and discreet.  I used these type of wraps frequently at work to ease back pain and give muscle relaxation. They give a gentle radiating heat which i found very soothing and did help to alleviate the pain.   I do not think i would have got through sitting in the meetings i had to if i had not had these. I also use during  or after gardening or especially when sitting for long periods and i always take these with me when travelling in case my back decides it doesn't like the stress i am putting on it.  So while they wont cure the sort of back pain i had they did help me a lot and even today i find it reassuring that if i put too much ...

Inspirational words....Be gentle with yourself....

Image
Forgive me this indulgence but this is one of my favourite poems and some of the words may have some relevance to those of us who have suffered or are suffering from back pain. It is well known i just wanted to have it here.... Max Ehrmann Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this no...

Sleep like a Baby...

A few posts ago i listed a whole range of sleep tips, to help you get to sleep and stay asleep. Now all those sleep tips may work great for you , however you may find it is not enough and if you need a little more help getting and staying asleep and you like the sound of a natural sleep aid . After months of poor sleep night after night when I had back pain and sciatica I was very tempted by sleeping pills but I also knew about the potential risks and I really didn't want to go there so I just did what I could to help myself. Over time I suffered badly through lack of sleep and got very sick with a lowered immune system and let me tell you it was no fun and took me a long time to get over..... HOW I wish I had known about this !! A sleep aid that uses natural ingredients. I could really have used this help. It's important to note that not all natural sleep aids are created equally. What you don't want is a lot of filler and a tiny amount of active ingred...

Considering Back Surgery? Questions to ask...

Well i have had my minor surgery and while it wasn't as straightforward as we hoped, it is over with now and i am having a few weeks to recover. It did get me to thinking though that you really need to know what you are going into with any type of surgery.   This recent surgery i had was not for my back (it was for something else entirely non related) but I am glad i did my research and was prepared before i went in.  I think it is important to know what you might expect during the operation and in recovery. Here I have tried to list questions you might want to ask if you are considering back surgery... To undergo back surgery is a serious decision and not to be undertaken lightly. You need to be certain it is the correct and necessary choice for you. For some people it will be necessary and beneficial and their circumstances will dictate that they require it.  However, unless there are circumstances which make back surgery urgent and essential it is always ...

When Life Gives You Lemons...

MAKE LEMONADE!! I was talking with a very good friend of mine the other day and essentially moaning a little bit about a few things when she said that to me. It got me to thinking that whatever is going on in life there are usually some things to be happy about or to be grateful for. I know when i had severe back pain and sciatica it was sometimes very difficult to keep positive and smiling and i certainly did not always acheive that, but i could usually think of something to be grateful for. So i started to think what i was grateful for about this situation -which is that i have to go for a little operation .( no its not related to back pain, something else entirely) So here are 5 things on my list. I have only included 5 because when i got going i had several sheets of A4 paper and i really dont want to bore you too much :} 1. I have a very skilled surgeon and when it is over i have my wonderful husband who will be with me at home to take care of me. 2. I have a lovely hom...
