Slow steps to recovery...

I have experienced a bit of poor health of late, I seem to be taking a lot longer to get back to full health than i think i should. Its not back pain but something else I wont bore  you with,  and am in thoughtful mode so  excuse this rather more rambly post than usual.  I recently realised I had forgotten about some of the lessons I learnt when I had back and sciatic pain.  I have been feeling that I should get better quickly and had forgotton that the body needs time to heal. Society places a lot of pressure on us to get better quickly and of course we want to get better and out of pain as fast as possible too...but sometimes nature has its own agenda.

A positive attitude is also very important and taking each day at a time. We all get times we are down, even depressed but that does not get us anywhere. Taking positive action and doing and thinking things that are good for us is the way forward to coping with health issues. There are many solutions out there and one of them may be the solution for you -but you wont find it if you are not  out there with a seeking attitude and positive frame. Even sometimes you might have found it and do not do it because you feel too down to take the necessary steps, or it feels too overwhelming maybe.

It is in my experience all natural things we go through if we are in pain. However, try to find something that will trigger you to adopt a positive, seeking attitude and give things a try, seek help and reach out when you need to. There are some wonderful people out there and some solutions to try.

Take small steps and celebrate the small successes. Bad days come and go  but look for the overall trend. Give yourself a pat on the back when things go well and do not beat yourself up about the things that do not go well. You are seeking, you are trying  that is what is vital. The only time  you need to give yourself a kick is if you give up. NEVER give up!!

And at the end of the day there is nothing like a hug from someone you love; even if no-one is physically there  love you - give yourself a hug- for that its where it all starts. Love yourself enough to take excellent care of you.

And for anyone who needs it - Heres a hug from me {{{HUG}}}

Smoking Causes Back Pain?

Can daily smoking of tobacco lead to a bad back?

A major Canadian research study has identified a higher rate of chronic lower back pain among people who smoke every day and has showed it relates in particular to young people.

From the article;

"Professor Michael Cousins said the research suggested their smoking was interfering with pain transmitters, causing osteoporosis or affecting their spine-related blood circulation.
The condition resulted in chronic lower back pain which could also trigger a "downward spiral" in a person's life, he warned.
"

"Chronic pain is now regarded as a disease in its own right," said Prof Cousins, director of the Pain Management Research Institute at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.

FREE Book: The 7-Day Back Pain Cure

Hi there,

Well I am back after my operation and now feeling much better. Apologies for my long absence but I have something for you today I think you will like very much :)

If you suffer from any type of back, neck or sciatic pain, then you need to go grab a copy of my good friend, Jesse Cannone's new book, "The 7-Day Back Pain Cure" asap...

Right now he is actually giving it away... you can also buy it on amazon, but if you grab one of the free copies from his website he is going to donate $2 to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Habitat for Humanity - you even get to choose the charity!

Now, I've known Jesse for a long time -you will know if you are a regular reader how much he and Steve Hefferon have helped me with my back issues, and he is known as the "back pain relief guy" because he's helped so many
people to finally get rid of their pain... and over the years, I personally have learned a lot from him...

But his new book is incredible... in it he does what no one else in the medical community does, and that is put together all of the pieces... see, most people when they have back pain usually get treatments that only mask the pain... and even then, the treatments only address the physical symptoms...

In this book he shows you:

- Why traditional treatments always FAIL to deliver lasting relief
- The 7 mistakes that most people make that keep them in pain
- How to identify the real, underlying causes of your pain
- Which treatments work, which ones don't and how to know which is right for you

So if you have ever suffered from back pain, or are currently dealing with it, I highly recommend you grab a copy of his
book now - and you can't beat the price (FREE)...

But don't wait or 'think about it" as he has only 1000 copies available to give away and there are literally millions of
people with back pain who are likely to hear about this.

And please be sure to tell him I sent you. Gentle Hugs

Family love and compassion.

Hi there,

From time to time I like to bring you things that are not about back pain. Things that might warm your heart or make you laugh or just that are interesting or beautiful...

You know sometimes the world can seem a cold harsh place at times and especially if you are going through a rough time, in pain and maybe feeling down or unloved.... I do believe that our recovery can be helped by love and caring for ourselves-that we feel worthy- and the people around us, both personal friends and professionals and the compassion and love they have in their hearts.

With this in mind I wanted to share two stories of love and compassion for two family dogs who were lucky enough to find themselves a home with this very caring family.

It warms my heart to meet someone with a heart of gold and a practical, compassionate approach to life.
I am talking about a woman who goes by the name of Nightbear who I met recently on Tagfoot and Squidoo. She writes with warmth and love. If I may, this quote from her page says such a lot:

"..When tragedy strikes, you adjust and figure out how to handle it" (Nightbear)

The first one is a story of a beloved and well cared for dog Isabel who becomes paralysed and the love, care and devotion shown to her by her family.

The Amazing Story Of Isabel

Then we have lovely lady Abigail. She is a dog unknowingly
purchased
from a puppy mill/farm and subsequently loved
and nutured through all
her problems to her golden years.

My Puppy Mill Puppy Abigail

These stories will warm your heart...

If you love dogs you will love them and even if not
-I feel/hope you will love the warmth and
compassion of this family...

Please take a few moments to invite them
into your heart.

With love and hugs

Low Back Pain and Degenerative Disc Disease.

For those of you who have been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) I hope this is useful information.

If you have walked out of the doctors office with the diagnosis but without a real understanding(like I did!), it is well worth your time learning and finding out as much as you can about it.

Its your back, make sure you understand all you can and then ask more questions specifically about you and your situation.

An Open Letter To Those Without Invisible Disability Or Chronic Illness

Hi there,

At last I found this wonderful letter to share with you;

"An Open Letter To Those Without Invisible Disability Or Chronic Illness "

I had found it some time ago and then lost it again. Now I have it on my stumbleupon faves and linked here so I won't lose it again!

It is all about understanding people who have an illness or disability that is not necessarily obvious. I think that back and sciatic pain can come under that banner heading. I know from my own experience while some people were understanding of my sciatic and back pain and the effects it had on me-physically and emotionally; others were very dismissive of "back pain" as being anything much to be concerned about...wish I could have given those people this letter...

From the page

Having an invisible disability (ID) and/or invisible chronic illness (ICI) means that many things change. Just because you can’t see the changes doesn’t mean they aren’t real.

Most people don’t understand much about these disabilities/diseases and their effects, and of those that think they know, many are actually mis-informed. In the spirit of informing those who wish to understand …

… These are the things that I would like you to understand about me before you judge me…
